True leaders apply law and grace, for those who only apply only law have little influence and those who apply only grace do not influence properly.

About This Quote

In the Bible, there is a story of Joseph who was sold into slavery in Egypt. During his time in slavery, there was a famine in the land. As Joseph’s master was preparing for a grain harvest, he sold Joseph to some merchant. It was then that the Pharaoh discovered that Joseph had a remarkable ability in interpreting dreams.

The Pharaoh then assigned Joseph to lead an important task in his palace. Joseph applied law and grace in the same way. He applied both grace and law when he interpreted dreams and gave recommendations to the Pharaoh about how to improve their lives and be more prosperous. At the same time, he applied only law when he put another slave on trial.

He did so because he felt that this slave deserved punishment for his actions.
